Rosaries & Faith

I have been wanting to make my own collection of rosaries for a while now. Finally, I have finished creating one piece which I really fancy. A beautiful rose carving caught my eye while I was going through picking some pieces to make my rosary. When I turned this piece over, it had a carving of Saint Rita. It is believed that she is the patroness of impossible cases! So, It's Mission Impossible... POSSIBLE!

I've used Jet (Black) Swarovski Crystals for this piece. They are super sparkly! For the "Our Father" beads in between the "Hail Mary" beads, I have used larger crystals just for something a little different. The St Rita/Rose centre piece & Crucifix are Italian made.

1st Autumn inspired jewelry

So, here it is.......I've finally finished my first Autumn inspired jewelry which I've asked you to stay tuned to in my previous blog insert

I carefully hand picked each one of these glass beads and teamed them up with a gold leaf charm and various shades of gold chains & a pair of beautiful yellow Chinese cloth buttons which has golden threads sewn throughout the buttons.

This necklace is long enough for you to put over your head, however, you can open it up by unbuttoning the yellow Chinese cloth button.

This piece will live in my new glass cabinet with all my other pieces until someone feels inspired to get it.
It can also be purchased through my online store at Etsy...
please go to www.giftedmoments.etsy.com .

MORE PHOTOS of this piece can be found in my facebook "Gifted Moment's" page & my online store.
stay tune for more Autumn inspired jewelry to come.... ;)
(just in case anyone wonders, I live in Australia (Southern Hemisphere) & over here right now is Autumn as opposed to the folks in Northern Hemisphere who are experiencing Spring! :) )

Before I sign off this post, I invite you to take a moment of silence & pray for the folks in Japan who are going through some of the most challenging times in history. It is absolutely devastating to see & hard to comprehend how within just a few days how one country can be hit by earthquakes, tsunami, nuclear radiation & volcano eruption.

Through these moments of trials, may we not forget our spirit of determination & perseverance that we can go through our darkest moments through the help from God & our fellow men. Amen
As for me, again it made me much more appreciative of the little things in life that sometimes I take for granted.

Lent & Autumn

Autumn is here in Australia. and I'm in the process of making some Autumn inspired jewelry. So, please stay tune for them ;)

It's also Lent season before Easter... and... I've been pondering on what I would give up on/fast for lent.
I've decided I would give up watching TV for the Lent season. Argh! Hard to do since I love watching my fav shows on telly! Wish my luck!

Sophisticated Sophia

Definition of SOPHISTICATED
1
: deprived of
native or original simplicity: as a : highly complicated or developed : complex

Recently, I was asked to design a necklace that represented a sophisticated lady. She would have a refined knowledge of the ways of the world cultivated especially through wide experience.

I also thought I'd design a pair of earrings to accompany this sophisticated necklace. So
Oo la laa.. here they are...

This sparkling necklace is made of genuine Swarovski Crystals. They are individually linked one by one forming a beautiful sparkling garland of Swarovski Crystals. As you can imagine, a lot of hours were spent making this special one; each bead represented the knowledge of this sophisticated lady gathered through her extensive experiences.

I've used jump rings to extend the necklace & finish it of with lobster clasp. Something very different then a normal chain as the lady dares to be different!

The name "Sophia" came to me in the middle of writing this blog. So I thought I'll look it up to find it's meaning ....
Sophia (Σοφíα, Greek for "wisdom") is a central term in Hellenistic philosophy and religion, Platonism, Gnosticism, Orthodox Christianity, Esoteric Christianity, as well as Christian mysticism. Sophiology is a philosophical concept regarding wisdom, as well as a theological concept regarding the wisdom of God. (quoted from Wikipedia)

PERFECT! I thought! perfect name for this set of fine jewelry!
For more (up close) photos of her, check her out in my Facebook "Gifted Moments" page. Also join my facebook page (click"Like" for updates & to be eligible for 10% off all of my online products!

Ps: I thought I'd show you some "Sophia:In the making" pics too :)

till then have a Fabulous day!
